We held the Virtual Open Day on Saturday and Sunday 14 and 15 January 2023 at SSBU. This is the forth time that such an event was held in the history of education in in Shan State Buddhist University. In this way, we made a key contribution to the development of education in Myanmar, moving the trend towards student centred learning which is one of our educational aims and approaches.
The aims of the event are:
- To provide information about our postgraduate and undergraduate courses;
- To provide a taste of our teaching approaches and classes at SSBU;
- To inform the prospective students about life at SSBU;
- To provide a chance to the prospective students to talk to our current students and alumni and ask any questions.
The highlights of the Virtual Open Day included:
1) The Sangha and laypeople from various parts of the country and overseas joined the event, and they seem to be very interested in the programmes;
2) the final programme of the event, i.e., meeting with students and alumni, went very well, and it was very encouraging and very positive to see how our current students and alumni feel about our teaching approaches and the improvements that they have made, and how they encourage others to apply here. We could hear the joy that they feel when they talk about the University.
This joy that our students feel gives me strength to move forward. It also affirms us that our approach is working and our work at SSBU is paying off.
I would like to encourage everyone to do mudita meditation on this.
Thank you everyone for your participation.
