    The First Book Exhibition at SSBU Library

    The first Book Exhibition at the SSBU Library, held in honor of the 60th birthday of the Most Venerable Rector Sayadaw Dr. Khammai Dhammasami, is open to the public from November 6–10, 2024

     

    SSBU LIBRARY
    The Shan State Buddhist University Library was founded in 2016 concurrently with the University as a crucial component of fostering learning and research activities related to Buddha's teaching on instructing, debating, practicing and doing research.

    To become a Buddhist library with the most comprehensive collection of Buddhist books and resources written in multiple languages.

     

     

     

    Our collection includes 11 categories of resources: Pitaka Collection, Parabike manuscripts, Reference Materials, English book Collection, Myanmar book Collection, Special Collection, Shan Collection, Thai Collection, Thesis and periodicals. Currently, the SSBU Library houses over 50,000 volumes in its collection.

     

    MANUSCRIPT COLLECTION

    The Manuscript Section houses a remarkable collection of 1,494 Parabikes, including the Precious Lik Loung Parabikes. These invaluable manuscripts are carefully preserved and represent a significant part of our cultural heritage. As part of the Book Exhibition at SSBU Library, select Parabikes from this collection are displayed, offering a rare glimpse into the rich literary history of our region. Explore and appreciate these historical treasures during the exhibition!


    REFERENCE SECTION

     


    The Reference Section houses over 1500 volumes, featuring a wide range of dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, and rare books.
    Some of these valuable reference materials will be showcased during the book exhibition.

    Discover Myanmar's Rich Literary Heritage! Explore nearly 1,000 books written in various languages about Myanmar, including a special focus on Burma and Shan.
