The MA (Applied & Philo) in Pali and Buddhist Studies, the Postgraduate Diploma in Pali and Buddhist Studies Entrance Test and Interview at Shan State Buddhist University, as well as the Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Management, were all successfully completed on March 16, 2023.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Pali and Buddhist Studies program is designed to provide students with foundational academic skills and knowledge in the field of Pali and Buddhist Studies. Completing this program will equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a Master's degree in this field. The primary objective of this program is to prepare students for further studies by providing them with a high standard of university education in a multidisciplinary program, enabling them to become confident, independent learners and researchers.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Management program provides a thorough education in library and information science, covering topics such as collection development, cataloging and classification, reference and research services, and information management. This program is specifically designed for individuals who wish to work in Buddhist libraries and library staff of Buddhist universities, colleges, and monasteries, with the aim of producing quality library work. The objectives of the program are to promote Buddhist literature, establish systematic libraries in Buddhist institutions, develop library collections, provide effective library services, and preserve valuable literary heritage.
The MA in PÄli and Buddhist Studies at SSBU is an interdisciplinary program that offers a comprehensive study of the PÄli language and literature, as well as diverse Buddhist practices and traditions and their relationship with the wider world. The program offers students the opportunity to learn PÄli language and study meditation from both theoretical and practical approaches. PÄli and meditation are compulsory courses for all students. The program offers two specialized pathways: a PÄli Philological pathway and an interdisciplinary Applied Buddhism pathway. Students can customize their program of study based on their interests by selecting from a wide range of optional courses within their chosen pathway.
